This year’s SCAA Mid-Year Meeting schedule has been intentionally designed to bring members together through a blend of education, networking, recreation, and relaxation.
From industry updates and association discussions to friendly competition on the golf course, clay range, and pickleball courts, every activity offers an opportunity to connect with fellow members. Planned dinners and evening gatherings allow attendees to enjoy meaningful conversations without the hassle of making arrangements on their own, while plenty of free time is built into the schedule to relax, recharge, and enjoy the summer setting. Whether you’re strengthening existing relationships or building new ones, the Mid-Year Meeting offers the perfect environment to connect, engage, and enjoy time together.

Step into an evening where history and ambiance intertwine. Set against the storied backdrop of the Manor House Ruins at Barnsley Gardens, Twilight in the Ruins invites you to unwind, connect, and ease into the spirit of our gathering. As the sun dips below the horizon, the ruins come alive with soft lighting, warm conversation, and the charm of a Southern evening. Enjoy curated cocktails, light fare, music from the Tailgate Homeboys, and the company of colleagues and friends in a setting that is both timeless and unforgettable.
Let the glow of twilight and the beauty of Barnsley Gardens set the tone for the days ahead.

The session will begin with welcoming remarks from SCAA Leadership, followed by a legislative update from SCAA Lobbyist Ben Homeyer of 1101 Public Affairs and an economic outlook from Rodger Tutterow of Kennesaw State University. Attendees will then hear from keynote speaker Todd Cohen as he presents “Everyone In Sales,” offering practical strategies for professional growth and relationship building. The morning will conclude with the graduation ceremony for the SCAA Emerging Leaders Cohort, recognizing the accomplishment of the program’s newest graduates.

Bring your SCAA lawn chairs and blankets to the Biergarten for a casual evening of Pizza, Pints & Play. Unwind for an evening of togetherness with wood-fired pizza, cold drinks, and a lively atmosphere perfect for connecting with colleagues and friends.
7:30 – 9:00 pm | Family S’mores Night
Gather with family and friends for a cozy evening under the stars. Pick up a s’mores kit on the patio of the Birch Cottage, then head to the fire pits in the common area to roast marshmallows, make sweet (or savory) treats, and enjoy quality time together.

7:30 am – 2:00 pm | Golf Tournament*
“The Lone Miner” Golfers will enjoy an 18-hole tournament in a different and exciting format this year! Shotgun start, breakfast, two drink tickets, sleeve of golf balls, cart fee and range will be provided with registration. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams, closest to the pin, and longest drive will be announced during the Derby Night Dinner.
9:30 am – 1:00 am | Pickleball Clinic & Tournament*
Enjoy and active and engaging morning with our pickleball clinic & tournament. Begin with expert instruction to learn or refine your game, then participate in a lighthearted mini-tournament that is perfect for all skill levels. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams will be announced during the Derby Night Dinner.
6:00 – 7:00 pm | Reception
7:00 – 10:30 pm | Off to the Races Derby Dinner
Join us at Barnsley Gardens for a Derby-inspired evening of Southern elegance and spirited fun. Begin with cocktails on the terrace; think mint juleps and garden-party charm, before heading inside for dinner and lively racing festivities.
Try your luck at our interactive Mobile Horse Racing experience, where you can place friendly wagers, pick your winning horse, and cheer your way to bragging rights. No real gambling—just all the excitement of race day!
Don your best Derby attire—from bold bow ties to statement hats and fascinators—for a chance to win prizes for Best Hat and Best Dressed.
Attire: Derby attire—think Southern sophistication with a playful twist. Whether you go all-out or keep it simple, gentlemen can opt for seersucker suits, light linens, pastel shirts, and bold bow ties, while ladies shine in sundresses, florals, and statement hats or fascinators. The bolder the hat, the better! Finish the look with bright colors, classic patterns, and a touch of race-day flair.
Winners of the Clay Shoot, Golf Tournament, and Pickleball Tournament will all be announced with the Derby Night prize winners!
