The Fall High School Quarry Tours are back this year, offering four opportunities to introduce students to the aggregates industry, showcase career pathways, and connect with the next generation of potential industry professionals.

For students, stepping onto a working quarry site provides an opportunity to see an industry that plays an essential role in everyday life. From the roads they travel and buildings they enter to the infrastructure that supports their communities, aggregates are fundamental to South Carolina’s growth and development. A quarry tour gives students the chance to see that connection firsthand while learning about the people, technology, equipment, and careers that make the industry possible.

Introducing Students to Career Opportunities

One of the most valuable aspects of these tours is helping students understand that a career in aggregates extends far beyond operating heavy equipment. Today’s aggregates industry offers opportunities across a wide range of fields, including engineering, geology, environmental science, mechanics, electrical and technical trades, equipment operation, safety, logistics, technology, business, sales, and management.

For students considering technical education, skilled trades, college, or entering the workforce after graduation, exposure to these career paths can help them begin thinking about where their interests and skills could fit within the industry.

That is why industry participation matters. When students have the opportunity to meet professionals working in these fields, ask questions, and hear firsthand about career experiences, they gain a better understanding of the possibilities available to them.

Four Opportunities to Get Involved

SCAA Associate Members are invited to participate in the career fair portion of each event. This is an opportunity to share your expertise, meet students, introduce them to your company and career opportunities, and help demonstrate the many different paths available within the aggregates industry.

• Vulcan Pacolet Tour: October 13 & 14*
