From aggregates to asphalt and concrete, the industries that build and maintain our nation’s infrastructure are closely connected. This week, the South Carolina Aggregates Association joined industry partners in Washington, D.C., to bring a unified voice to Capitol Hill.

SCAA joined members of the SC Asphalt Pavement Association for the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Legislative & Policy Forum and a joint Hill Day with the National Asphalt Pavement Association and National Ready Mixed Concrete Association.
Although the House was not in session, the group met with staff from House and Senate offices to discuss issues that directly impact South Carolina’s aggregates industry. Conversations focused on the importance of a strong surface transportation reauthorization bill with reliable, recurring funding, as well as permitting reform and workforce development.

These priorities have a direct impact on the people, businesses and materials that keep South Carolina and the nation moving.
The group also had the opportunity to tour the U.S. Capitol, arranged by Congressman Russell Fry’s office. SCAA appreciates his team for welcoming the group and taking the time to connect with South Carolina’s industry representatives.
SCAA is proud to work alongside our members and industry partners to ensure the experiences and priorities of South Carolina’s aggregates industry are represented in the conversations shaping the future of infrastructure.
Together, our industries build more than roads, bridges and communities. We help build what comes next.
